The
signature of Governor Charlie Crist under Condo Bill H 995 has finally
ended a long struggle that lasted many years.
In the presence of the legislators, who made many condo owners' dreams come true, Governor Charlie Crist signed this bill into law. State Representative Julio Robaina commented: "This bill is the result of legislators listening to the people, their constituents. It was a great effort from all parties involved. It sure is the best condo reform bill since 1991." Senator Alex Villalobos, who supported this bill through the Florida Senate, deserves an equal Thank-you. His consumer-friendly approach to legislation has always been much appreciated. Let's not forget the members of the House Select Committee On Condominium & Homeowners Association Governance: Representatives Juan Zapata, Franklin Sands, Yolly Roberson, Rich Glorioso, Joe Gibbons, Luis Garcia, Jimmy Padronis, Jr. and Kevin Ambler, who traveled for five weekends throughout Florida and listened to the testimony of hundreds of owners! Not to forget Mark Benson, a member of the CAM Council, who actively helped with the CAM part of the bill, and Ombudsman Danille Carroll and her staff. THIS BILL IS THE POSITIVE RESULT OF A COMBINED EFFORT! Legislators, consumer advocates and owners combined forces, brought to light the many problems condo owners face on a daily basis, and created a bill that will definitely help to clarify many issues that caused countless legal battles. Hopefully, this bill establishes the enforcement necessary, forcing every party involved to follow the rules -- without creating huge legal bills!
