WILD WEST IN FLORIDA

 LET'S JUST DEREGULATE ABOUT EVERYTHING!

After reading Bill Proposal PCB BCAS 11-01, a bill which emerged from Governor Rick Scott's office and is on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting of the Florida House Business and Consumer Affairs Subcommittee (CONTACT COMMITTEE MEMBERS) -- I can only say: GEE, WHAT A GRAND IDEA!

How do you like this bill proposal, headlined with statements like: "An act relating to the deregulation of professions and occupations; deleting provisions establishing the Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation; repealing part VIII of chapter 468, F.S., relating to the licensure and regulation of community association managers and management firms and the Regulatory Council of Community Association Managers."

  • Imagine no more complaints about legislators raiding all these trust funds. But where will the legislators find their ill-gotten budget gains in the future?

  • Imagine no more complaints about Michael Cochran and his merry men, or the Bureau of Compliance and Harold Hyman's conflict of interest with attorney brother Michael Hyman.

  • Imagine no more complaints to the DBPR CAM licensing department -- no more bitching about these "enforcers" finding stupid excuses for CAMs, who willfully violate Florida statutes.

  • Imagine no more complaints about the DBPR arbitrators, who can read between the lines and invent laws that don't exist.

  • Imagine all the unemployed government workers that we deem pretty useless anyway. But with all the new jobs Governor Scott promised to create there should be no shortage of open positions for all the folks whose jobs are being killed by this bill.

  • Imagine all the postage saved -- no more letters mailed by the Division and CAM Regulation, claiming that they couldn't find any violations because they didn't have time to look in the first place.

  • Imagine no more complaints about board presidents who pay themselves huge salaries and benefits as CAM of your association. They no longer need a license.

  • Imagine even more community association lawsuits filling the dockets of our already totally overburdened courts, which are already totally underfunded because money is rather wasted in buildings like the TAJ MAHAL instead of hiring court personnel to ease the burden.

DREAM ON -- THIS BILL WILL FULFILL YOUR WILDEST DREAMS!

And since Governor Rick Scott seems to be on a roll, why not delete FS 718, FS 719, FS 720 and FS 723 altogether? He must have overlooked this option! Let's make sure that we have WILD WEST IN FLORIDA! LET'S GET TO WORK!

But thinking about it, all this deregulation and lack of enforcement will create a serious enforcement gap that needs to be filled immediately. My idea of a solution would be a bill sponsored by the NRA (National Rifle Association), giving every owner and future purchasers of property within Florida's mandatory community associations the right to carry an open fire arm of choice.

THEN LET'S ENJOY PEACEFUL WILD WEST FLORIDA!

LET'S HAVE A SHOOTOUT IN THE SUNSHINE STATE --

A LOT MORE FUN THAN EARLY BIRD DINNERS!
