A woman fell from the roof of a Fort Lauderdale high-rise condominium Tuesday and died, Fort Lauderdale police said.

The agency said it was investigating the fatality at the Marine Tower Condominium at 2500 E. Las Olas Blvd.

Though the building's balconies are being reconstructed, the company doing that work said because of the weather, its employees were not on the job when the woman fell.

"We had a rain day," said Mariann Gerwig, director of operations and finance at Carousel Development & Restoration, Inc. in Delray Beach. "Our equipment was secured. But our supervisor was asked to return because it was a crime scene."

That supervisor, Tim Robertson, said he did not know who died.

"This is not a construction accident," Robertson said. "I know it's none of our employees."
