My name is Lewis Laricchia and I am running
for Florida State Representative, District 56, which is in Hillsborough
County. I am running for office for the following reasons:
- There are thousands of Home Owners'
Associations ("HOA") in the state of Florida. Many Florida
residents either reside and/or own a home in an HOA. I have kept a
close watch of the issues HOA members face and I believe that HOA
members across this great state need a voice in Tallahassee that will
stand up to the special interest groups and big Law Firms like Becker
& Poliakoff and finally get some things fixed with respect to HOAs
and HOA attorneys taking HOA members' homes, taking HOA members' money
through frivolous fines, harassing of HOA members, and fighting HOA
members through mediation, arbitration, and in court. I know Florida
Statute Chapter 720, the chapter for HOAs, and I believe that we can
fix the problems within it.
- There are many Condominium Associations
in the State of Florida. Condominium Association members face many of
the same issues that HOA members are facing. I also know Florida
Statute Chapter 718, the chapter for Condominium Associations, and I
believe that we can fix the problems within it also.
- As property owners, whether it is
property, a house, or a condominium, we all are facing property taxes
that have skyrocketed as a result of the values increasing. However,
we have seen little in return for these increased taxes and these
escalating property taxes are causing property owners to suffer
financial hardship because they cannot afford the increase in their
property taxes. This has led many in this great state to abandon the
American Dream of owning a home ... some, who have lived the American
Dream and owned a home for many years of their lives. There have been
many politicians who have said they are willing to do something to
help the property tax issues facing property and home owners, but they
have thus far shown little effort in providing for REAL relief. I
believe I can provoke other legislators into coming up with REAL
relief
- As property owners, whether it is
property, a house, or a condominium, we all are facing insurance rates
that have skyrocketed as a result of hurricane damages but also as a
result of insurance companies' unethical practices within this great
state. The insurance lobby is very strong in Tallahassee and has thus
far been able to keep law makers from fixing the problems with
insurance. These escalating insurance rates are causing property
owners to suffer financial hardship because they cannot afford the
increase in their insurance. This, too, has led many in this great
state to abandon the American Dream of owning a home ? some, who have
lived the American Dream and owned a home for many years of their
lives. There have been many politicians who have said they are willing
to do something to help the insurance issues, but they have thus far
shown little effort in providing for REAL relief. I believe I can
provoke other legislators into coming up with REAL relief
- Many of our residents in Florida are
Senior Citizens. There are several sicknesses Seniors face to which
the prognosis is dismal. Additionally, there are law makers who
believe that monies should be taken away from finding a cure for these
sicknesses. Such was the case when law makers tried to rake funding
away from Senator Byrd's bill. This funding was for research for
Alzheimer's and Dementias. I have a very good understanding of these
sicknesses as my mother and others close to me suffer from these
sicknesses. I will fight to make sure we are not cutting any funding
for these sicknesses and others.
I am committed to providing REAL relief for
Florida residents in these areas and more. I am tired and frustrated with
the current legislators declaring they have provided relief and solutions
to some of our most common problems and issues, when actually the result
is far from REAL relief and from what they declared they would do. It's
time that we take back our state and get these problems addressed with
REAL relief and solutions. I am asking for your support in my quest to
