Some Marco Island condo owners claim workers that
were paid to fix their properties stole from them.
Many condos along
the water in Marco Island still have damage from
Hurricane Irma and need repairs.
Marco Island condo owner, Jeanne Wagner, is taking issue
with those who have been hired to work on her condo.
She said, "My husband came home from work unexpectedly,
and found an unaccompanied worker in our unit."
Wagner said her husband later discovered missing cash,
binoculars, and their drawers rummaged through. |

"I came down a few days later and found additional
missing items like jewelry, some blank checks from my market account. So
I filed a police report," Wagner said.
Marco Island Police
said they had received several similar reports to Wagner's
involving contractors and condo units, where personal
property has disappeared.
The company working in Wagner's building is called All Clear
Restoration.
A representative from the company didn't discuss the
specific instance but said most accusations they get turn
out not to be true, and that workers follow a strict
protocol when working in people's homes.
Wagner disagreed. |

"Every time I leave my unit, I hide things like my laptop, iPad,
anything else of value, my purse. Even just to run downstairs, I feel
like I have to hide everything," Wagner said.
Now, she wants to warn other condo residents to be careful.
Jack Arch, who rents a condo in Marco Island, said, "I feel sorry that
somebody's doing that."
Another condo renter Michael Kusy said, "Of all the places I've been,
I'm surprised to hear that down here. It's just a quiet, wonderful place
to be."
So far, no arrests have been made.
