NEW PORT RICHEY —
Strong winds ripped the roof off of a condo building on
Wednesday afternoon near Little Road and Villa Entrada,
according to Pasco County Fire Rescue.
The agency said no one
was injured in the incident, but two people were displaced.
The agency released photos that show the damage was
continued inside of the structure, beyond just the roof.
The strong winds came with the afternoon thunderstorms that
rocked most of Tampa Bay. The National Weather Service
reported wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour throughout the
region.
A disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is partially to blame
for Wednesday’s wind and rain, according to Spectrum Bay
News 9 Meteorologist Mike Clay.
“A tropical wave is in the Gulf of Mexico moving away from
Florida but deep moisture remains,” Clay said Wednesday.
“This time of year is the heart of our rainy season, so rain
chances remain around 50 percent each day into the weekend.”
