Three young males from Naples were arrested Friday after
neighbors caught them burglarizing a condo in East Naples, authorities said.
Randie Rodriguez, 18, and William Osorio, 18, face felony charges of
burglary and grand theft, the Collier County Sheriff's Office reported.
The Naples Daily News isn't identifying the third suspect because he is
younger than 18.
An arrest report states the three males were burglarizing a first-floor
condo at Windstar on Naples Bay when two homeowners heading up stairs to the
third floor saw and approached them.
All three suspects fled on foot and were found separately within the
community, authorities said.
The teens had grassy debris on their clothes, the Sheriff's Office report
states, but none admitted taking part in the burglary.
Surveillance video and eyewitness reports led to their arrests.
The teens appeared to have gained entry into the unit through an open front
window without a screen, the report states. The homeowner was out of town
but was notified of the incident and wished to press charges, the report
states.
Drawers and cabinets were open and items were found near the front door.
Cigars valued at $500 were found outside the condo, the report states.
A detached garage belonging to a separate condo owner, who couldn't be
reached, appeared to have been burglarized too, the report states, but it
wasn't clear whether items were taken.
When authorities tried to question the suspects, Rodriguez denied any
involvement and Osorio requested an attorney. The report says the juvenile
told authorities all three burglarized the condo and garage with three other
males. He didn't know their names, except one, the report states.
He said his initial plan was to go through mailboxes, but someone in the
group decided to knock on the condo door to make sure no one was home before
breaking in, according to the report.
