An Opinion By Jan Bergemann

You
always hear that just a few "disgruntled" owners are complaining
about the abuses and mismanagement in
associations. You also hear
claims that “all is nice” in Florida's Condo World!
But that is just wishful thinking by the people who profit from
this lack of laws protecting owners' rights.
Last
Saturday, October 15, 2005, more than 100 condo owners in
Miami tried to get Governor Jeb Bush's attention when they stood in
the rain for hours asking for
help!
PICTURES
SAY MORE THAN 1000 WORDS!
Their
homes were condemned due to mismanagement and lack of protection by our
government agencies. These
are law-abiding, taxpaying citizens who work hard for a living.
They may lose all they worked for many years!
Is this what you, our Florida legislators, want to happen by
stalling necessary condo reforms?
BUT
WHEN KIDS ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES
IT'S
A DISGRACE FOR OUR SOCIETY!
The
follow-up rally on Monday in front of their condemned building attracted
more than 200 condo owners, quite a few from other condos in the
neighborhood who have similar problems!
What
has to happen before our legislators act on this cry for help?
Please listen to your colleagues like Senator Garcia and Representative
Robaina and others who are working hard to remedy these problems!
THIS
IS MIAMI, FLORIDA -- NOT SOME BANANA REPUBLIC!
If citizens are losing their homes it's time to act -- and forget about
special interests trying to tell you otherwise!
Please
support legislation that will improve the situation for owners in mandated
properties!
