ELECTIONS 2006 – PRIMARY SEPTEMBER 5, 2006

JAN’S CHOICE!

DISCLAIMER:

THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION, HOPEFULLY PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT – AND I DIDN’T SIGN MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AWAY AT THE GATE!

A few more days and we’ll know who made the cut. Some interesting races; some are more or less already decided. But we all should go to the polls:

If you don't vote, you forfeit your right to bitch about politicians!

The Primary has some advantages -- no arguments about general political directions, no argument about George W. or Hillary – we can keep our peace, folks!

This is all about our cause:  Who has helped us – who didn’t?  Who promised to help us – and who will not?  I have collected over the years quite some research data and I have based my private choices on experience from the past and some input from friends around the State of Florida.

These selections are not to be considered an official endorsement by CCFJ, Inc. It’s just my personal opinion.  And before you may ask:  I am a registered Republican!

The opinion is split into two parts – one for the voters who are registered Republicans, one for the voters who are registered Democrats.

>>>>>Let’s start with the Democrats!

Governor:  It seems like there is a toss-up in the polls, but a wide majority of our friends who looked closely into the race seem to favor former FL Senator Rod Smith over his opponent, Jim Davis.  It will be a heated race.

Attorney General:  “Skip” Campbell – no question asked. He may even be the choice of some Republicans in the main election, since Bill McCollum as the Republican candidate makes some people uneasy because of his “lobbyist” past.

Senate District 32:  I think our vote should go to Doc Ben Graber, who has the experience and has never avoided a good fight!  His big opponent, Jeremy Ring, has used his finances to “buy” influence and has surrounded himself with some campaign helpers, who may exude the smell of condo commandos.

House District 104:  Yolly Roberson has shown her concern for our cause and should be returned to office -- no doubt about it!

>>>>>Now on to the Republicans:

Governor:  I guess you all know my clear choice: Charlie Crist!  Not only did he help our friend George Andres, the Jupiter flag man, but as well others with problems in associations.

The even bigger reason for voting for Charlie Crist is his opponent, Tom Gallagher. Over the years in different offices Gallagher has shown that he has no concern for us little guys.  Guess what?  During Gallagher’s tenure as Chief Financial Officer we saw the problems with Citizens – and the whole property insurance disaster. Even if he can’t be blamed for the hurricanes, he clearly failed to do anything about the insurance problem.  Gallagher is a typical bureaucrat who has shown in the past that he is unwilling to take a stand. And when Peter Dunbar, often nicknamed Mr. Condo, was standing beside Gallagher on the courthouse steps to announce his candidacy, I already felt sorry for every condo owner in Florida in case Tom Gallagher wins.

So, my vote and support go to CHARLIE CRIST!

Chief Financial Officer:  My vote goes to Randy Johnson, whose Blue Tarp Tour has shown that reform of property insurance is his Number One Issue.  So far only promises, but in this case I believe him.  He runs a typical grassroots campaign against Tom Lee, a financially strong opponent, endorsed by Governor Jeb Bush. I really don’t wonder why! Tom Lee, as the Senate President, has had the opportunity to start working on insurance reforms, that office holds serious power.  Lee clearly failed to even try. Now Lee claims that, if elected, he will do his best. Too little – too late?

On a note regarding condo issues: Tom Lee appointed attorney Paul Wean to the Condo Advisory Council.  Does that show concern for the welfare of Joe and Jane Condo-Owner?  Definitely not, in my opinion!

My vote clearly goes to RANDY JOHNSON!

Senate District 8:  Let’s keep Jim King in office.  He has helped our cause on many occasions and his office was always open to listen to our concerns.  But here as well a clear statement: I’m not sure if his opponent, Terry Randall, can be considered to be a serious choice as a legislator!

My vote goes to  “JIM” KING Jr.!

Senate District 16:  Let’s all vote for Kim Berfield.  As a House Representative she was always willing to listen, helped our cause on many occasions and promised to continue to do so if elected to the Senate.  Remember her opponent?  Frank Farkas has always sided with the service providers and was even willing to carry their torch. The worst example:  Farkas was in 2005 the sponsor of the infamous association bill HB 1593, a bill that tried to turn back the clock and reintroduce liens and foreclosures for fines. No argument:

My support goes to KIM BERFIELD!

Senate District 38: Senator Alex Villalobos is my absolute choice. He has proven that he votes the mandate of his constituents, even if it means to vote against the Governor's wishes. He is a legislator, who votes his conviction -- and definitely deserves our support and vote! These are the kind of legislators Florida's citizens need! No doubt in my mind:

My support goes to SENATOR ALEX VILLALOBOS!

House District 115:  J. C. Planas is my clear choice.  He has helped us before and will help us again.  We need House Representatives like him, willing to support owners’ rights!

My support goes to J. C. PLANAS!
