Summary of Qualifications
- 37
years experience in large systems software design and programming for IBM
as an IT Consultant and a Senior Programmer.
- Superior
verbal and written communications skills.
Objectives
- Architect,
design, and solve complex problems with large messaging, groupware, and
content management systems – telecommuting as an independent consultant on
goal-oriented projects of limited duration.
Skills
Leadership level
- Internet
Messaging & Message Content Management, Data Analysis, Database
Design, Application Design & Programming – using Lotus Notes, sendmail, Apache, DB2, MySQL,
Java, Perl, Brio, Unix
Working Knowledge level
- HTML,
PHP, XML, XSL, XPATH, C++, Rexx, LotusScript
Selected Accomplishments
- Designed,
implemented and deployed a statistics collection and reporting system for
a global messaging system serving 400,000 users worldwide, utilizing Java,
DB2, and Brio. This was then used
as a substitute for information obtained from a real-time probe system
which had been eliminated in order to save $140K per year.
- Redesigned
the configuration of 32 global messaging relays, simplifying and reducing
the size of the configurations by 60%, thus enabling configuration changes
to be deployed globally over a 2-week period, instead of the 6-week period
required previously.
- Architected
and designed a migration solution for the non-disruptive deployment of a
new messaging gateway technology in a large enterprise Lotus Notes
domain containing 360,000 active e-mail users, yielding cost savings of
$13M over 5 years.
- Designed
an extensible and flexible sendmail configuration
which was deployed as a corporate standard solution on 18 sendmail
relays around the world for the use of 360,000 e-mail users. Directed its
deployment.
- Designed
and implemented a messaging firewall solution for 8,000 Lotus Notes
users in Latin America.
- Architected
a solution for integrating Lotus
Notes into a corporate domain of 8,000 active OfficeVision/VM e-mail users in Latin
America.
- Led
the reconstruction of a corporate site SMTP and OfficeVision/VM
e-mail system of 3,500 users.
- Designed
and implemented a Unix-based SMTP e-mail solution to remove dependence on
the mainframe. Responsible for the seamless integration of Lotus Notes
into existing e-mail systems.
- Designed
and implemented a multiple Lotus Notes
SMTP gateway solution to provide adequate and dependable capacity for
e-mail traffic flowing between Lotus Notes
and other messaging systems.
Prior Accomplishments
- Directed
the design of the highly parallel version of IBM's high-volume transaction
processing product (z/TPF),
which today achieves transaction rates exceeding 5,000 per second.
- Designed
and developed a PC-based, low-cost, continuously available resource
scheduling system employing voice response and touch-tone telephone
access.
- Designed
the run-time environment supporting 'C' language programs on z/TPF.
- Initiated
and designed the adaptation of distributed database technology into z/TPF.
- Designed
and developed a highly parallel machine architecture emulator which
co-existed with the z/VM operating system.
- Invented
an operating system i/o offload technique, then designed and developed a
prototype which demonstrated an overall performance improvement of 10%
- Designed
and developed a set of platform services on z/OS,
enabling simple communication between z/OS
applications.
- Invented
and deployed a software
defect classification scheme, leading to a net benefit of
$481,000 on one project.
- Deployed
a corporate software quality measurement system across multiple software
development sites.
- Designed
and implemented a corporate client/server application for the
classification of software defect data, collecting the data using an OS/2
GUI at multiple sites, and storing the data at a central relational
database.
- Designed
a client/server corporate data discovery tool enabling multiple sites to
search a central software defect database for interesting trends,
presenting the results as charts to the end user.
- Negotiated
the technical content of a multi-million dollar joint software development
contract between IBM and four major airlines.
- Invented
a source code control system enabling multiple developers to work on
multiple versions of the same software product simultaneously.
