NORTH FORT MYERS -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office said a woman trespassed into a gated North Fort Myers condo community, took a fire extinguisher out of a case, sprayed it, and used it as a battering ram to damage condo doors.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, a homeless woman named Alicia Sorci was arrested after deputies said she caused chaos at the North Star Yacht Club, a gated condo community on Hancock Bridge Parkway in North Fort Myers.

Lee County deputies said Sorci climbed over the fence, walked through the parking garage, pulled on car doors, and entered an unlocked car.

Deputies said Sorci worked her way to the fourth and fifth floors, where she removed a fire extinguisher from a case and started spraying it while screaming, "Get out, there's a fire!" despite there being no fire.

Deputies said she used the fire extinguisher as a battering ram, hitting residents' doors and causing damage. Neighbors woke up and called 911.

Lee County deputies said they had to pry the fire extinguisher out of her hands and a door handle that she broke off of one of the condo units. When Sorci was arrested, deputies said she resisted and started kicking in the patrol car.

Sorci is facing the following charges:

  • Grand theft of a fire extinguisher
  • Disturbing peace
  • Resisting deputies without violence
