Education Requirements to require, rather than
authorize, the board, or the Department of Business and
Professional Regulation when there is no board, to allow
by rule that distance learning may be used to satisfy
continuing education requirements; revising the
requirements that such continuing education must
satisfy; requiring a board, or the department when there
is no board, to exempt certain individuals from
completing their continuing education requirements, etc.

Last Friday afternoon, Mr. V., a client
and friend, forwarded to me an email he received from
DBPR. Mr. V. has been licensed as a Community
Association Manager in Florida for over 10 years and is
a Navy veteran who plays it “by the book.” He was
dumbfounded at the contents of the email.
The DBPR email exempts a Community
Association Manager (“CAM”) from continuing education
requirements so long they are licensed for over 10
years, and no disciplinary action has been filed against
them.
That is concerning.
A CAM should not be exempt from
continuing education --- especially since new laws
relating to mandatory community associations become
effective on July 1, 2024. The text of the email is:
