HOUSE CIVIL JUSTICE SUBCOMMITTEE |
HOUSE BILL 1195 CS This
committee will hear the Committee Substitute of the above bill on Tuesday,
March 29, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in Room 404 HOB This bill -- together with the companion bill S1516 – originally had been an owner-friendly bill with lots of good provisions that would have helped many associations and their members deal with the economic crisis.
Then
Peter Dunbar and Gary Poliakoff convinced the sponsors to use their
language from the ill-advised bill S530, language that will help to
create more cost and fees for owners.
We can't stop legislators from passing bills that will do even more financial damage to owners and remove provisions that were just a few years ago added to protect owners against scams, fraud and embezzlement. However, if our legislators feel it's good to pass laws that harm even more of their citizens, so be it! But then remove all other language that was supplied by people who care about associations and their members and let the Dunbar/Poliakoff language stand by itself. Don't give them excuses by allowing other language to be included in the bill.
It is about time for the members of the Florida Bar (Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section) to realize what kind of bills Peter Dunbar is pushing in their name. It is about time for the board members and owners of the community associations, represented by Becker & Poliakoff, to find out that their money is being used to lobby for bills that make living in their associations even more expensive. It's about time for Floridians to wake up!
Here
is one good piece of advice for Your
constituents would rather live with no bill at all passed this year
than see a bill enacted that will create even more problems. I
just can't understand why Please contact the committee members and ask them to VOTE NO on this horrible bill!
If
you contact the legislators, please write in the subject line:
