JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Larry Murphree is fed up. He says every time he turns around, his homeowner's association is breathing down his neck.

"It's gotten out of hand. It's got to stop," he said.

In an effort to show patriotism, Murphree put an American flag in his flower pot. Shortly after he did, he was served papers and ordered to pay $100 a day until he takes it out.

"I don't think anybody else could tell me you can't support your country by putting a flag out," he continued.

This isn't the first run-in Murphree's had a run-in. Back in December, he and his neighbors were confronted about their Christmas lights. To make sure they win this battle, Murphree hired an attorney.

The plan is to file a lawsuit Thursday against the HOA.

"We understand wanting to keep the home values, but when you get down to saying an unauthorized object like a flag is destroying the value of someone's property, who would want to live in that neighborhood?" attorney Gust Sarris asked.
