A fight is brewing in Florida pitting homeowners against the community associations that control their neighborhood. we first told you about the homeowners' association battle last November, and we received dozens of e-mails from homeowners telling us HOA horror stories.

State Representative Rich Glorioso (R) Plant City:" It's criminal, it almost appears as white collar crime has taken over our homeowners' and condo associations! The problem is that nobody is enforcing it. The current law has no teeth. You don't have this kind of condo police or homeowners' associations police." State Representative Rich Glorioso promises changes and hopefully a new law. "Legislation is always tough to do, it's not an easy ting. But I think once we identify what we are going to do we shall have some pretty good legislation coming out. We'll help these people!"

Mark S.Stern (Playa Del Mar, Inc., Fort Lauderdale): "All of these new laws we are talking about are great. But if we don't enforce the ones we have we are wasting our time!"

Please took a look at the draft of the proposed HOA bill.

HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATIONS FS 720

More changes are in the works, especially for FS 720.311. This years new mediation language has already proven to be useless and just increases frustration, time and cost of the dispute! Whoever came up with the idea of the PRESUIT MEDIATION OFFER must not have had peace, harmony or solution in mind!
